  1.                           KERATOMETER READINGS

  3. The keratometer readings (central corneal curvature) are important to determine:

  5. -the amount of corneal toricity
  6.  
  7. -if a rigid lens will correct the astigmatic   
  8.    error or if there will be any residual  
  9.    astigmatism.
  10.  
  11. -the base curve of the first diagnostic 
  12.     lens (especially rigid lenses)
  13.  
  14. -if there is any induced change in 
  15.     the corneal curvature due to the 
  16.     wearing of the contact lenses (for 
  17.     comparison at later visits)
